Steve Hillage, 1977
Steve Hillage
Steve Hillage is, without doubt, one of the greatest rock performers ever. Yet he never earned the fame that The Rolling Stones or the Beatles achieved. Whereas the latter are still known to younger generations, Hillage is forgotten.
Hillage was more interested innovating synthesizer music than making money, holding free rock concerts performing with other geniuses like Tim Blake and the Crystal Machine. Yet these were the classical musicians of that time.
So, hoping to create some new interest in this amazing musician, here's a German recording of perhaps his most popular tune, The Hurdy Gurdy Man.
This is a much younger Hillage to the one mixing the synthesizers for System 7 below!

Here is some unique footage of the immortal Django Reinhardt playing 'J'attendrai' with Stéphane Grappelli and the Quintet Hotclub de France.
Amazingly, Django played with just three fingers after his hand was severely burnt in a fire in his gipsy caravan. Despite this he went on to create the genre of hot jazz together with the famous Hotclub de France.

Letter from a Pissed Off Brit
Just now I'm feeling fed up about chronicling the dreary old events of politics, having watched today the departure of the charlatan, Blair, and his replacement with another, Brown.
The king is dead, long live the king and all that.
So Blair is, after all, to be the envoy of death for the New World Order! In a recent article I suggested this was rather like putting the fox inside the chicken coop. It reminded me of a rather naive letter I wrote Blair in 1999 suggesting he should act as an honest broker in the Middle East. He seems to have taken my advice.
That was before he started to brown nose Bush and to behave like a fully paid-up member of the neocon Project for a New American Century. So exactly how much honest brokering we can expect is very much a moot question. As always, first and foremost will be oil and the ongoing need of the NWO capitalists to wage their resource wars. A leopard doesn't change its spots, I might add.

Nowadays, I record the news on several major UK channels and fast-forward back each track to see what's of interest. Today's news, of course, was full of Blair's departure and Brown's arrival. Hardly any coverage was given to the protests going on outside Downing Street and to the thousands lining the streets booing, catcalling and giving Blair the finger as his armour-plated Daimler swished by on its way to Buckingham Palace for his last meeting with Her Satanic Majesty.
Notably, it was the Blairites who pack the BBC these days who gave almost zero coverage to the Anti-Blair demonstrations. A reporter, I forget who, did make the contrast between the day Blair arrived victoriously at Number 10 in 1997 when the cheering thousands lined the streets with today when there seemed to be more press reporters than crowds, cheering or otherwise. He could have added that that indicated how bored and pissed off most Brits are today with all politicians.
So, just to cheer ourselves up, and with grateful thanks to Antares, my dreamwarrior bro in the forests of Malaysia, here's a colourful promo clip from the Sarawak Rainforest Musical Festival.

Proportional representation has hardly been mentioned by Labour, why risk their hold on power to let Greens or real Socialists into parliament? |

It has been named the Political Attention Deficit Disorder (PADD) ...
Nearly 80 percent of adult American citizens are unable to pay sustained attention to issues and problems associated with their government. They are unable to accept their responsibility as citizens, including their obligation to vote, read in-depth articles and books on political issues, become active members of politically oriented groups, and initiate discussions on current events with friends and family. “The decades-old decline in voter turnout is a direct result of a national epidemic of PADD,” said the report.
The chief cause of PADD is the desire to avoid the very real pain of cognitive dissonance, the difference between what Americans want to believe about the greatness of their country and the disturbing reality that their government and country are in terrible shape, which is a constant reminder when there is normal, healthy political attention.

Blair as Mideast Envoy: Putting the Fox inside the Chicken Coop
Apparently the mediocre Peter Sissons of the UK's lying, sensationalist mainstream media (MSM) is taking seriously Bush's suggestion that Blair should become a Mideast envoy!
No mention of Blair's war crimes in that part of the world. Of course not. That's taboo and more than Sissons' job is worth who, like his baggy-eyed colleague on Channel 4, Jon Snow, will now be looking forward to retirement and being put out to pasture.
Yet the suggestion, no matter how fatuous, has been made and we of the disloyal opposition are obliged to address it. So let me refer you to a recent article, Reasons why Tony Blair will be a Bad Mideast Envoy, by Mr Jalil Bahar, a former Iranian diplomat.
The Brits screwed the whole thing up and have a bad reputation, they have systematically leveraged US assets and power, their idea is basically to get the US to spend the blood and treasure to further British interests, there will be lies, lies and more lies from the Brits, they have just polarized the whole Islamic world again by mischievously giving Salman Rushdie a knighthood, recommending Blair for this role is just plain dumb.
Of course it's dumb, no question of that. After all the havoc and destruction caused in Afghanistan and Iraq and with around a million dead, to put Blair in again is to put the fox in the chicken coop. And yet you can see why Bush is so attracted to the idea.
For Blair is more than Bush's toady, he has all along been an enthusiastic warmonger, keen to spill the blood of Her Satanic Majesty's subjects in the name of the Anglo-Saxon empire, even when (according to Condi Rice) he was told that it would not be necessary.
No, Mr Sissons, the only place that Tony Blair should be going is to the Hague for trial and from there to a place of lifelong penal servitude. As you appear to be such an enthusiastic promoter of Blair's war crimes perhaps you should join him with the rest of the whoring MSM.

A report from AFP shows that according to a survey published in Newsweek magazine this Thursday, just 26% of the population support the president.
In fact, the only president in the last 35 years who obtained less points was Richard Nixon, when he received just 23% in January 1974, months before he resigned as a result of the Watergate scandal, confirmed the report.
The survey found that the public’s disillusionment with Bush stems from the war in Iraq but also includes domestic problems. Some 73% of U.S. citizens are opposed to the activities in Iraq and just 23% are in favor.
Some 50% reject his handling of national security issues and terrorism, one of the strong points of his administration since the attacks on September 11, 2001.

A recent MoD paper, reported in The Telegraph, in the UK talks about five years:
Britain's "overstretched" armed forces will fight in Iraq for at least another five years ... troops will be serving on operations in the Gulf until at least 2012.
The contents of the document, distributed last month, appear to be in marked contrast to a statement made by Tony Blair in February giving the impression that British troops would remain in Iraq for less than two years. He said: "The UK military presence will continue into 2008". Mr Blair told the Commons: "Increasingly our role will be support and training, and our numbers will be able to reduce accordingly."
Patrick Mercer, a former infantry colonel and former Tory homeland security spokesman, said: "The reality is that many troops will remain in Iraq for the foreseeable future and continue to take casualties."
Senior commanders also revealed the number of troops committed to Afghanistan is likely to increase over the next two years.
In a recent report, A Duty to Mislead: Politics and the Iraq War, on US National Public Radio, broadcaster Ted Koppel stated:
"Democrats are telling voters that if they are elected, all U.S. troops will be pulled out of Iraq. But as Sen. Hillary Clinton privately told a senior military adviser, she knows there will be some troops there for decades. It's an example of how in some cases, politics can force dishonesty."
"In a recent interview with the New York Times," Koppel continues, "Senator Clinton emphasized that there are remaining vital national security issues [clearly oil] in Iraq and that these would require a continuing deployment of American troops."
"She didn't, in that interview, give any sense of how long U.S. forces might remain in Iraq during a Clinton administration."
And to an old military friend of Koppel's Clinton revealed how, were she to be elected and then re-elected, "she would still expect U.S. forces to be in Iraq at the end of a second term."
"When, oh when," Koppel despairs, "is that deadly serious issue going to become the topic of an equally serious and candid discussion? When, in other words, will we get the brutal truth in place of vapid and misleading campaign applause lines?"
Well, the brutal truth is finally seeping out, proving that the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan was, all along, to capture and occupy areas of strategic and economic importance to the U.S. led multinational corporations: oil and gas.
Now we have a ruling class toff, Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles would you believe, the new UK Ambassador to Afghanistan, telling the ever servile Huw Edwards of BBC News 24 that the British will have to remain in Afghanistan for "a long time ... we should be thinking in terms of decades."
On being questioned why the British are building a huge new embassy in Kabul (as are the Americans in Baghdad) Sir Sherard admitted that "strategic interests" required it.
"Ministers realize we are here for the long haul."
All this fits in perfectly with the neocons' Blueprint for a New American Century which calls for geopolitical wars to seize and occupy areas of the world containing minerals and resources vital to the U.S. 'security (read corporate capitalist) interests.' It is also why U.S. generals have been telling their troops for some time now to get used to the idea of long, generational and endless wars.
And why our societies are being totalitarianized. No way out: this really is Armageddon.

Russians targeted with Bioweapons, ban Human Tissue Export
The Russian Federal Customs Service (FSB) has banned the export from the country of all human medical biological materials, from hair to blood samples, as of May 28th. According to the Russian newspaper Kommersant, the ban was prompted by a report submitted to Vladimir Putin that alleges "genetically engineered biological weapons" are under development in the West.

For the last few weeks we have been subjected to a barrage of propaganda in the media about the so-called "attacks on freedom of expression" in Venezuela. Facts? A TV station, RCTV, which actively participated in the coup against president Chávez in April 2002, did not get its licence renewed.
Acres of print paper have been filled with this story. However, one that you are not likely to see reported is this other story: Yesterday, June 12, Youtube decided to close down the account of Venezuelan Bolivarian activist Luigino Bracci. The reason? A complaint over copyright by Spanish Antena 3 TV station ...
... In an interview in VTV, former Minister of Education Aristóbulo Izturiz put it very clearly: "this shows that the campaign around RCTV is not about freedom of expression, but the freedom of the owners of capital to control the media and the contents".

Outgoing British Prime Minister Tony Blair has savaged online media today in a speech in which he declared war on the free press by hinting at new restrictions on internet journalism and suggested that the media should be brought more into line with the government.
Blair complained that the media was too "feral" (i.e. not tamed by the government) and referring to online journalism stated:
"In fact, the new forms can be even more pernicious, less balanced, more intent on the latest conspiracy theory multiplied by five."
This is an outright call for a crackdown on the free press. Blair is out in the open here saying the media is too independent of the government, he is admitting that the freedom with which the media, especially online, is now operating is hurting his government and its agenda.
Pro Patria Mori?
In William Shirer's epic, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, Air Marshal Goering is quoted as having predicted that, "In thirty years time, Britain [would] be an overcrowded little island living on the glories of its past."
How right he was.
For weeks now, Brits have been force-fed glorified memories of an event which took place 25 years ago proving to the world that the British ruling classes cling on desperately to their imperial pretensions regardless of the price in blood that is invariably paid for it by their subjects.
Subjects, for in Britain there are no citizens, only the lowly subjects of Her Satanic Majesty, that notorious blood-sucker whose hidden and most influential hand still manipulates the death-machine of international monopoly capitalism and usury.
Governments, as the astute Tony Benn has observed quoted in an article below, use the Media to project the distorted version of reality which suits them. In Britain, it also uses the monarchy to promote a bluster of hollow patriotism in the manner described by an earlier commentator, Walter Bagehot, as a necessary tool of pomp and circumstance, bread and circuses, by which the masses are governed and kept in their place.
By promoting the disgraceful, modern-day colonialist adventure of the 1982 Falklands/Malvinas war the mainstream media (MSM) is playing to classic form, glorifying a sickening episode in which hundreds of young Brits and Argentinos died over a crop of rocks in the bleak South Atlantic. For weeks now we have heard nothing but blaring chauvinism, led as always by the BBC, on what a great job "our boys" did in liberating the hardy, Best-of-British Falklanders from the dastardly grip of that dago, Leopoldo Galtieri.
Of course, no mention is made of that other dictator, Margaret Thatcher (or 'Señora Torture' as she was aptly described by an Argentino mispronouncing her name), or the reasons behind her galloping patriotism and willingness to spill the blood of Britain's youth in a war which was a calculated attempt, on her part, to bully a weaker country into submission, claim victory and thereby bolster her badly-flagging electoral popularity.
Nor the fact that the disputed sovereignty of the Falkands/Malvinas dates back to 1833 when the British opportunistically seized the islands with its military might. These things are better left undiscussed. As is the uncomfortable contrast some have made since of the obviously racist interest the British Government had in coming to the rescue of a handful of white colonists 8000 miles away from the Motherland while, in the Indian Ocean, having expelled through threat and deceit another small group of dark-skinned people from the Chagos Islands.
There is no comparison, the British Government would maintain. After all, the Chagos Islanders were descendants of indentured labour (legal colonial slavery) whereas the Falklanders were authentic colonists (colonizers). And besides which, the Big White Father in Washington had made it known that he wished to acquire the Chagos Islands, lock stock and barrel, in order to build a nuclear strategic base on Diego Garcia (called Fantasy Island by its Yankee usurpers) to fight the good fight for Democracy-'n'-Freedom and occasional bomb the shit out of uppity rag-heads in Iraq, Afghanistan and Iran.
Reality doesn't bear looking at too closely. It never has. Especially the vicious, murdering lies behind what is called patriotism, that perpetuator of paternalism and an inherited, psychopathic Jewish thunder-god. Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori, it is sweet and seemly to die for one's country. Evidently, the BBC, the British MSM, the Government and the Royal spokesperson, Prince Andrew, on TV for those miserable parasites called the monarchy, still insist it to be so.
But let me tell you of an alternative, personal version to the official glorification of that episode of tribal blood-letting.
Back in 1982, I was living in south Oxfordshire, the heart of Tory-land, out-of-work together with the rest of Thatcher's marginalized millions, scraping a living out of a mixture of substitute teaching and government welfare, fathering a child and two step-children and campaigning daily against the Reagan/Thatcher Arms Race and the Cruise missiles at Greenham Common.
Then suddenly came the Falklands/Malvinas crisis. One interesting aspect of the media show which accompanied the adventure in the South Atlantic was the manner in which the War Office (aka Ministry of Defence) censored all TV reports by running a thick cable from the TV cameras to caravans installed outside Downing Street where all reports would be monitored and adjusted to Government requirements. Now called 'embedding' that process of censorship and government-sanctioned propaganda has been developed to a fine art both in Britain and the USA.
Sadly, Thatcher won and by doing so condemned her subjects to 15 more years of penal servitude. A great victory march was organized in Portsmouth and the patriots gave themselves to an orgy of chauvinism, booze and self-degradation. One of the memories of that celebration of pomp and circumstance were the numbers of one-legged war-wounded. How sad, these sheep who, over and over ad nauseam so easily go to their slaughter!
For weeks now, Brits have been force-fed glorified memories of an event which took place 25 years ago proving to the world that the British ruling classes cling on desperately to their imperial pretensions regardless of the price in blood that is invariably paid for it by their subjects.
Subjects, for in Britain there are no citizens, only the lowly subjects of Her Satanic Majesty, that notorious blood-sucker whose hidden and most influential hand still manipulates the death-machine of international monopoly capitalism and usury.
Governments, as the astute Tony Benn has observed quoted in an article below, use the Media to project the distorted version of reality which suits them. In Britain, it also uses the monarchy to promote a bluster of hollow patriotism in the manner described by an earlier commentator, Walter Bagehot, as a necessary tool of pomp and circumstance, bread and circuses, by which the masses are governed and kept in their place.
By promoting the disgraceful, modern-day colonialist adventure of the 1982 Falklands/Malvinas war the mainstream media (MSM) is playing to classic form, glorifying a sickening episode in which hundreds of young Brits and Argentinos died over a crop of rocks in the bleak South Atlantic. For weeks now we have heard nothing but blaring chauvinism, led as always by the BBC, on what a great job "our boys" did in liberating the hardy, Best-of-British Falklanders from the dastardly grip of that dago, Leopoldo Galtieri.
Of course, no mention is made of that other dictator, Margaret Thatcher (or 'Señora Torture' as she was aptly described by an Argentino mispronouncing her name), or the reasons behind her galloping patriotism and willingness to spill the blood of Britain's youth in a war which was a calculated attempt, on her part, to bully a weaker country into submission, claim victory and thereby bolster her badly-flagging electoral popularity.
Nor the fact that the disputed sovereignty of the Falkands/Malvinas dates back to 1833 when the British opportunistically seized the islands with its military might. These things are better left undiscussed. As is the uncomfortable contrast some have made since of the obviously racist interest the British Government had in coming to the rescue of a handful of white colonists 8000 miles away from the Motherland while, in the Indian Ocean, having expelled through threat and deceit another small group of dark-skinned people from the Chagos Islands.
There is no comparison, the British Government would maintain. After all, the Chagos Islanders were descendants of indentured labour (legal colonial slavery) whereas the Falklanders were authentic colonists (colonizers). And besides which, the Big White Father in Washington had made it known that he wished to acquire the Chagos Islands, lock stock and barrel, in order to build a nuclear strategic base on Diego Garcia (called Fantasy Island by its Yankee usurpers) to fight the good fight for Democracy-'n'-Freedom and occasional bomb the shit out of uppity rag-heads in Iraq, Afghanistan and Iran.
Reality doesn't bear looking at too closely. It never has. Especially the vicious, murdering lies behind what is called patriotism, that perpetuator of paternalism and an inherited, psychopathic Jewish thunder-god. Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori, it is sweet and seemly to die for one's country. Evidently, the BBC, the British MSM, the Government and the Royal spokesperson, Prince Andrew, on TV for those miserable parasites called the monarchy, still insist it to be so.
But let me tell you of an alternative, personal version to the official glorification of that episode of tribal blood-letting.

My other memories of that war are of the the young lad from a school in which I taught who had been sent out, fresh from training to fight, never to return. I felt the paternal feeling one develops, as a teacher, for one's charges and, from that time onward harbour a cold contempt for all the Thatchers and the Blairs who turn our planet into a hell on earth.

Craig Murray's Blog under Attack
Blair government whistle-blower and ex-UK Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Craig Murray, has been victim to hack attacks on his blog recently.
Some days ago, his blog was down for over 48 hours. So I wrote him, asking him if it was an attack. He replied,
Yes, it was an attack - here is more from my tech people:
"Latest update is that the attack is still ongoing and every time the server is brought back up, the attack brings it straight back down. As soon as the attack abates, the server will be back."
The blog is back up but I understand there's a mirror site, just in case.
So why should Her Majesty's spooks suddenly decide to attack Craig?
Is it anything to do with the fact an ex-UK Ambassador with a sense of old-fashioned integrity has dared to go public, as he has, to comment upon the insidiously corrupt nature of not only the Blair government but those in the establishment, incuding the MSM and the BBC, who back him?

Uranium Wars: here's something else you're just not going to hear about on the mainstream media (MSM).

The fact is that the United States and its military partners have staged four nuclear wars, "slipping nukes under the wire" by using dirty bombs and dirty weapons in countries the US needs to control. Depleted uranium aerosols will permanently contaminate vast regions and slowly destroy the genetic future of populations living in those regions, where there are resources which the US must control, in order to establish and maintain American primacy.
Described as the Trojan Horse of nuclear war, depleted uranium is the weapon that keeps killing. The half-life of Uranium-238 is 4.5 billion years, the age of the earth. And, as Uranium-238 decays into daughter radioactive products, in four steps before turning into lead, it continues to release more radiation at each step. There is no way to turn it off, and there is no way to clean it up. It meets the US Government’s own definition of Weapons of Mass Destruction.
While the Washington neocons continue with their unrelenting campaign to get Bush to attack Iran, an attack which will invariably use nuclear fissile 'tactical' weapons with a yield of anything between one third to seven times that of Hiroshima-Nagasaki, a silent uranium war is being conducted by the US and Britain in Iraq and Afghanistan and by their proxy, Israel, in the Lebanon.
The conduct of secret nuclear wars since 1991, through the use of depleted uranium weaponry by the United States and Great Britain with their allies, has taken place in the Middle East, the former Yugoslavia, Afghanistan and Lebanon. It has been carried out for the express purpose of destroying the public health and mutilating the genetic future of vast populations in oil rich and/or pipeline regions.
Silent because this is a war which is simply ignored by a compliant and complicit MSM. Having embedded themselves so deeply with the war criminals the MSM is just as much part of the genocide which is going on. Naturally, it doesn't like to be compared with Nazis but in the real world what its NWO masters are up to is something even worse than the Nazis perpetrated: permanent genocide through irradiating vast areas of the planet.
Depleted uranium is the ideal weapon to bring about the New World Order, which is global depopulation. In just a few years it has turned Planet Earth into a Death Star.
For populations that must continue to live in contaminated areas, the long-term effects are lingering illnesses and mutilation of their DNA. Widespread depleted uranium contamination of DNA in populations results in the potential mutilation of future generations. Mutations induced in the DNA of a single egg or sperm which form a fertilized egg are expressed and repeated in every cell of the developing organism, and defects are passed on to all future generations.
In a recent article, Leuren Meuret reveals how the planning of uranium wars was intended as an effective method of depopulation:
The blueprint for depleted uranium radioactive poison gas weaponry – dirty bombs, dirty missiles and dirty bullets – was contained in a declassified memorandum dated Oct. 30, 1943. It was addressed to Gen. Leslie Groves, who was head of the Manhattan Project, the U.S. effort to build atomic bombs in World War II.
The recommendation for development of depleted uranium as kinetic energy penetrators was never mentioned in the Groves memo. It was specifically for depopulation.
The Groves memo makes it clear that in 1943, U.S. scientists recommended using radioactive poison gas weapons in order to contaminate the air, water, soil, food, environment and the blood of exposed populations. The long-term contamination is permanent, since uranium-238 has a half-life of 4.5 billion years, making contaminated areas uninhabitable for eternity.

Depleted uranium poison gas weaponry, used on a regional scale, meets U.S. National Security Council goals as stated in the “Global 2000 Report: Vision of a Gloomy World” (1980). This report recommended that depopulation in third world countries was imperative to the U.S. government purpose of securing mineral and other strategic resources.
Global atmospheric pollution from depleted uranium particulates will result in massive depopulation on a global scale. By increasing death rates and decreasing birth rates globally, more than 2 billion people will be eliminated.
We are not simply talking about intention here. Blair could face Trial for War Crimes
LONDON, June 12--TONY BLAIR could face prosecution for war crimes in Iraq following a legal bid launched yesterday.
Former SNP MP Jim Sillars has handed a 10,000-word dossier to Lord Advocate Eilish Angiolini urging her to charge the PM under Scots law.
He claims Blair should be held to account for conspiring to overthrow Saddam Hussein's regime and for starting the war in Iraq.
Both are illegal under international law. An attempt to have Blair hauled before a criminal court in England failed after lawyers said it wasn't the place to deal with international law.
But Sillars claims Scottish courts have the power to try Blair for war crimes if they believe an established offence, such as murder, has been committed in the process.
Sillars said: "There can be no prosecution at the international criminal court because it doesn't have jurisdiction."
"There is no chance of a special court being established by the United Nations because Britain and the United States have the veto at the Security Council. There is no chance of a prosecution in England and Wales."
"But of course Scots law is an entirely different entity, an entirely different jurisdiction with different rules, procedures and instruments available to it."
Sillars said he had been told by legal experts that the Prime Minister has a case to answer.
And he warned: "The Lord Advocate would have to give a very good explanation why, with the evidence presented, she didn't instigate an investigation -- because we have jurisdiction."
Sillars spent six months putting together his complaint, which was lodged last Friday.
In a letter to the Lord Advocate, he said: "I am requesting you to investigate this complaint and prosecute in a Scottish court."
"Although I have a political past, this complaint is based on legal principles and case law, and I shall be obliged if you will examine it in that light and in that light alone."
Sillars, who was assistant secretary general with the Arab/British Chamber of Commerce for 14 years, said Britain and the US are constantly harangued as hypocrites throughout the Arab world.
He explained: "We preach the rule of law. We preach accountability inherent in democracy."
"But when it comes to applying international law, we seem to find it politically inconvenient to pursue the law as it should be pursued."
"The war on terror won't be won by bombs, bullets, aeroplanes and rockets - it will be won by winning the argument at an intellectual, moral level."
Sillars' complaint was launched at the same time as the latest move by the Tories at Westminster to get a new inquiry in the Iraq war -- but they will not join forces as Sillars is seeking a criminal conviction.
A Crown Office spokesman said: "We confirm receipt of correspondence from Jim Sillars. A response will be issued in due course."

Obviously drunk.
This video was recorded during a press conference held by recently elected French president, Nicolas Sarkozy, during the G8 summit in June 2007. This is the translation of the video:

French TV did not release this video --this recording comes from a Belgian TV show. Sarkozy said many times during the campaign that drinking goes "against (his) lifestyle" and that he never drinks alcohol.
It seems that Putin knew how to get the better of the fool, Sarkozy. Someone should have warned him that's what happens when you binge with Russians!

Bush sacks top generals in preparation for an Iran attack
Before the end of his rogue presidency, Bush seems determined to attack Iran.
The evidence for that becomes clearer every day. Not only is there an ongoing military build-up in the Gulf area but, more ominously, he has now sacked the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Peter Pace, who is known not only to oppose an attack on Iran but to be an opponent of the neocons' plan for a Long or Generational War.
If the Senate approves his nomination, Pace's replacement will be Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Michael Mullen, who is much more in line with Bush and the PNAC neocons. At a recent address of US naval personnel in Pearl Harbour, Mullen stated that "The enemy now is basically evil and fundamentally hates everything we are -- the democratic principles for which we stand ... This war is going to go on for a long time. It's a generational war."
This is undiluted neocon talk: paranoia about hidden enemies justifying an endless war of imperialism, including the use of first-strike 'tactical' nuclear weapons, to subdue the rest of the world by military might and the doctrine of 'compellence,' the very same doctrine which is now forcing Russia to respond with the threat of deploying new nuclear weapons in a strategy of asymmetric warfare.

Either the Senate Democrats get their act together, block this appointment, AND get on with the overdue job of Impeachment, or we should be ready to start losing more American cities.

The Real Danger behind US ABM Deployment in Eastern Europe
Recent disinformation by the western media about Russia starting a new Cold War not only masks the threat of a US Anti-Ballistic Missile shield deployment but, as always, projects the blame on the victim, Russia.
The US missile shield must be understood in the context of its geo-strategic nuclear deployment. Far from being defensive, its ultimate purpose is to obtain such an unassailable advantage over any other nuclear power as to be able to threaten any would-be opponent with nuclear extinction if it were not to comply with the wishes of the US.
This new form of nuclear strategy has been called 'compellence'. Remember the word because you won't hear it mentioned by the western MSM which has already tried to distract us from the real dangers behind the deployment of the US missile shield with matters which bear no relevance such as the Litvinenko affair and the inevitable Russian response to retaliate with its own missiles.

The USG is breaking out of a "deterrence" posture and moving into a "compellence" posture. Easier to rule the world that way. Henceforth the USG will be able to compel even nuclear-armed adversaries to do its bidding in a crisis or otherwise.

Deterrence strategy was abandoned over twenty years ago when the US upped the ante in its arms race by introducing new, microchip-controlled nuclear weapons, including the medium-range Cruise missile, and replacing the idea of deterrence with 'pre-emption' or first strike. It was no longer necessary to wait for the other side to attack first. Instead, you attack first if you think the other side is planning to attack you.
Any sane person can see the danger in a strategy that inevitably leads to paranoia. But when you add to it the fact that everything is handled, not by humans, but by computers a War Games doomsday scenario is what we are faced with.
What the US is now dumping is no longer deterrence. That was dumped over 20 years ago. What it's doing is to develop the second stage of First Strike by introducing an element, compellence, which will effectively coerce all its competitors, through terror, to do its bidding.
It was concerning this that Vladimir Putin warned the world at the Munich Conference last February:
I am convinced that we have reached that decisive moment when we must seriously think about the architecture of global security.
In Russia’s opinion, the militarisation of outer space could have unpredictable consequences for the international community, and provoke nothing less than the beginning of a nuclear era. And we have come forward more than once with initiatives designed to prevent the use of weapons in outer space.
And, in the context of the expansion of NATO into the old Warsaw Pact countries:
It turns out that NATO has put its frontline forces on our borders, and we continue to strictly fulfil the treaty obligations and do not react to these actions at all ... I think it is obvious that NATO expansion does not have any relation with the modernisation of the Alliance itself or with ensuring security in Europe. On the contrary, it represents a serious provocation that reduces the level of mutual trust.
And we have the right to ask: against whom is this expansion intended?
Remember, it is in the Czech Republic and Poland where the US now intends to install its ABM radar systems. The pattern of aggressive closing in on the USSR is clear for all to see.
Since September 11, the Bush administration has carried out an aggressive strategy to surround Russia with military bases, install missiles on its borders, topple allied regimes in Central Asia, and incite political upheaval in Moscow through US-backed “pro-democracy” groups. These openly hostile actions have convinced many Russian hard-liners that the administration is going forward with the neocon plan for “regime change” in Moscow and fragmentation of the Russian Federation. Putin’s testimony suggests that the hardliners are probably right.

Answering questions after his Munich speech, Putin warned the US that if it were to go ahead with a new arms race, including ABM deployment, Russia would respond asymmetrically.
So that everybody [should] understand that the anti-missile defence system is useless against Russia because we have certain weapons that easily overcome it. And we are proceeding in this direction. It is cheaper for us. And this is in no way directed against the United States themselves.
And, at the recent G8 Press Conference which the western MSM conspicuously didn't report:
We have learned from the Soviet Union’s experience and we will not be drawn into an arms race that anyone imposes on us. We will not respond symmetrically, we will respond with other methods and means that are no less effective. This is called an asymmetrical response. The United States are building a huge and costly missile defence system which will cost dozens and dozens of billions of dollars. We said: “no, we are not going to be pulled into this race. We will construct systems that will be much cheaper yet effective enough to overcome the missile defence system and therefore maintain the balance of power in the world.” And we are going to proceed this way in the future.

As the US and NATO seem to choose deliberately to ignore Putin's warnings and go ahead with an arms race they have now drawn the inevitable --and expected-- response of retaliation.
It is this background to the current new aggression of the USA and NATO that the western media hides by trying to distract attention with events which have no bearing on the real dangers of US geo-strategic nuclear deployment.
In the 'eighties, it was the late radical historian, Edward Thompson, and the European Nuclear Disarmament movement that campaigned against US First Strike strategy and who alerted the world to its danger. Now there is no Edward Thompson or an END. So it is up to the likes of we humble bloggers to demystify the MSM spin and let the truth be known.
