The BBC, David Miliband and Arsehole Politics
It never fails to amaze me that even when faced with the devastating truth, as it was today, the pathetic BBC and its talking heads, in a desperate face-saving operation, have to turn reality on its head in an attempt to prove that the opposite is true.
In a remarkable statement today by US Intelligence we were told something which bloggers like me have been saying for well over a year now: Iran is not, I repeat not, developing a nuclear weapon.
This, of course, has been a huge embarrassment for the BBC which for so long now has been enthusiastically beating the Neocon war drums and giving so much air-time to the utterly discredited John 'Bonkers' Bolton when no one else would touch him with a bargepole. We now have even the genteel Yasmin Alibhai-Brown from THE INDEPENDENT accusing the BBC of having been taken over by the Right.
The BBC is not simply in denial. It is a national institution which having so discredited itself in the eyes of the world is now like an oligarchic dictatorship under siege by the forces of truth and democracy.
Instead of simply admitting to 'having been mistaken' (it would never admit to having lied) about Iran's nuclear energy programme, it then tried to prove that it was right all along by making the ludicrous suggestion that even were there no evidence at present that Iran was producing a bomb it might have the capability to do so in five years time and thus remains a threat!
And, in doing so, it was aping the equally pathetic weasel words emanating from UK Foreign Secretary, David Miliband, who made a similar suggestion in a hastily-organised Press Conference. Politicians, of course, never admit to having lied or making a mistake. So again we have this amazing contortion of logic which is able to pull non-existent threats out of thin air on the basis of something which might happen tomorrow, sometime or never!
Miliband is a bare-faced liar and I have the evidence. For it just so happened that on the very day this amazing revelation hit the world media I received a reply from my MP, Alex Salmond, enclosing a statement from Mr Miliband regarding 'UK policy' on Iran were it to be suddenly attacked by the USA:

I use inverted commas around 'UK Policy' because anyone who bothers to read this garbage will see that it comes directly from the same song-sheet being presently sung by the warmongering chorus of the Bush cabal. UK Foreign Policy, these days, is written for its politicians in Washington, DC and Langley, Virginia.
Sock-puppet Miliband simply ignores all the considerable evidence that exists that the US Military is preparing air-strikes against Iran in which so-called tactical nuclear weapons are being held as an option.
He suggests that the Iranian government has not "fulfilled its international obligations to suspend uranium enrichment and reprocessing activities." This flies in the face of repeated assurances from the International Atomic Energy Authority (IKEA) that there is absolutely no evidence that Iran is processing uranium at the high level of refinement necessary to make a nuclear warhead.
Mr Miliband selectively refers to a UN Security Council resolution brought about in the most dubious of circumstances and which, therefore, lies discredited in the eyes of the world. And his innuendos are now exposed as a pack of lies by recent US intelligence reports.
His patronizing comments, "Iran must also accept that it has responsibilities to its neighbours, to the region and to the wider international community," (the last, read USUK interests), simply ignore all the hard work Iran has done in the region to create a security zone.
Finally, more lies: Iran has not, as Mr Miliband states, violated the NPT nor undermined regional stability.
Thanks but no thanks, Mr Miliband. Your letter is a perfect example of the kind of arsehole politics* the British public have become so accustomed to have shoved at them by a corrupt and incompetent bunch of wankers who presume to legally run this country on a 20% vote by a bored and pissed-off electorate.
And the same goes for the cowering BBC who, these days, receive their autocue texts directly from the Ministry of Propaganda.

*The phrase, 'Arsehole politics' (US: Asshole Politics), though it might be taken to mean a peculiar bonding ritual which takes place, from time to time, between UK and US politicians to cement the famous 'Special Relationship', is actually coined from an anecdote by the erstwhile UK Ambassador to Washington, Sir Christopher Meyer, who on asking what British foreign policy was was told that it was "getting up as far up the arse of the Americans and staying there," a definition that gave new significance to the concept of an embedded relationship.
